I have been talking with a mortgage banker who is searching for options, however at the moment, we cant find a lender who will finance a condo in Detroit. MOre specifically, this is one of the Riverfront Condos on Jefferson (www.riverfrontdetroit.com), and I have excellent credit, able to put about 10% down, little debt… Im low risk, but regardless nobody is willing to lend. Can somebody provide me with some information?

Thanks!

Resolved Question: Pain and suffering lawsuit?
I’m sure these are hard cases to prove, but I do have a couple questions about this. Here’s the story:

My parents are good, hardworking people who have never had any problem with anyone in their lives. They work hard, are great to their family and friends and it sucks what they are going through right now…My dad and uncle decided to build some riverfront condos last year since they are both in the construction business. This was my dads first venture like this. Well, they ended up selling 5 of the six units they built, with my parents buying one as well. There is one they are unable to sell because the tenants insist on parking they’re boat haulers in the lot below the unit that is for sell. They have had prospective buyers who back out of the deal because of this. The one family that lives in one of the units have put my parents through hell. First they ripped out they’re walls, insisting that they have mold in them. My parents and they have brought people in to test and no mold was found. (During the building process, moisture was caught in the walls, but was dried out). My parents even offered to fix the walls, but they declined. Anyways…now they are going through with their lawsuit, and bringing air quality testers in and everything. They say my parents decieved them. My parents live there in this stupid condo association with stupid people who want everything for free. My mother cannot even walk outside her own home without these people harassing her about everything from the lawn, to the pool, to the flowers that were planted, etc. She cannot even live there in peace, in her own home. Even my father, who is the calmest man in the world is getting fed up. They can’t sell, because these people are doing everything in their power to sabotage my parents. Now my mom, who has never been on medication and who hates to take it, is on xanax. They are rude and obnoxious to my parents’ guests as well. They let their dog shit everywhere and don’t clean it up. The whole association is against my parents for the sole reason that they are the builders. Yet, I here them telling their friend and family how great the place is. There’s so much more to tell, but I’m just rambeling. Do you think my parents can counter sue with pain and suffering since they live among these people? Please advise…
Maybe pain and suffering is wrong type of lawsuit, but what can my parents counter with in this situation?
I’m sorry…in case the second person who answered looks at this again, they are owners, not tenants. This is not rental property.

Resolved Question: What happens when you flee?
There was once a town by the sea. It was called Asbury Park. The riots of the 70’s took it to ruins. Now, today it is coming back. Riverfront condos and apartments sprouting up everywhere. It will never again be the hubbub of fun and excitement it once was; in fact much of the waterfront will become privatized….But then, that’s progress.
It reminds me though of ‘white flight’..and people moving to Toms River, Manasquan, Jackson twp, and other landfill areas…Then came carcinogens and other poisons…..and now, those same people want to return to places like Asbury Park…..where they already know what is underneath…………..
