Upsetting day yesterday - The Michigan Sportsman Forums
I found the badly decomposed body of a woman on my property yesterday while shed hunting. She’d been missing since June last year. Very unsettling. The full story is on the WWMT website. At least the family can get some closure. … read more…

Open Question: What’s the best security surveillance for this?
Here’s the scenario:
We have a small hunting cabin out in the woods. There are two other small recreation cabins within 100 acres of ours (both cabins on opposite sides of the mountain). This property is out in the middle of no-where - in the mountains.
In the past 4 months, one cabin was broken into and tore up (windows broken, ammo stolen, furniture trashed) and recently the other cabin was literally blown up with explosives! (probably a bunch of punk-**** teens).
We can’t get insurance on our current cabin because it isn’t a licensed structure as it is a recreation cabin built on a large boulder. We have furniture inside, a few paintings, coo-coo clock, wood stove, ammo, propane tanks, and hunting supplies.
Now the question:
I want to find a camera that I can mount in a tree somewhere and have it so that it takes pictures when someone is at the cabin. I know that there are trail cameras for game, but I have no experience with those so I need some recommendations here. What’s a good camera that can go months at a time on battery supply? I’m up at the rec. cabin about once a month. If anything happens to this one - we’re out alot of money and TIME spent building it and we will want revenge … so help me find a good camera.
tnx

Open Question: Would it be prudent to take action in this case?
We rent a house that includes a very large lot in the back, half of which is a backyard, half of which is forest and field that is marked by a stone wall. There are NO TRESPASSING and PRIVATE PROPERTY signs clearly posted on the forest trees that extend to the side of the house. These were posted by the property owner.
However, some people like to bring dirt bikes and go hunting in the trees in spite of the signs. The noise can get quite loud in case of the dirt bikes, as well as smelly. The hunting irks me, but isn’t as bad.
I would love to get these people out of there, but as we don’t actually own this property and it would be embarrassing to call the police on people the owner lets in here, I’m hesitant to do anything about the situation. The real owner was an old man, and this property was recently left to his son. We rent month-to-month with no real hassle - it’s very old property that the owners only use to get rent money out of (we live in a rural Massachusetts town).
What is the best course of action here?
