Open Question: Do dogs understand…. ?
Imagine that a domesticated dog became very curious of the wild world outside of its home. It knew that it should not leave the boundaries that its master had set, but still, the dog went out into the woods without its master. The dog left without any of the proper knowledge of hunting or gathering, nor did it have the abilities necessary to defend itself. Like the circumstances had promised, it was attacked. A large cat - let’s say it’s a mountain lion - pounced on it from behind and began to subdue the inferior mut. Luckily, the dog’s master was close behind trying to get to his pup before trouble came on it (as he knew it soon would). Just in time, the master pulled out a sword and killed the mountain lion. Of course, the dog was hurt, but it would survive. The master carried the dog home, and treated its wounds. He drained the blood from its head, stiched the torn skin, gave it water, and let it rest. Soon, the dog was back to full health.
My question is, would a dog like that ever have any true perception or appreciation for what just happened? Does that dog really perceive that his Master just saved his life and nursed him back to health? Does it know how close to death it really was?
What is the smartest thing for this dog to do from now on, and what is the best way for it to show that it is thankful?
Open Question: Should I get a divorce or not?
I have been married for 3 years and it is not good. To start off I want to tell the WHOLE story. Now this is where it started going bad before we even got married. My soon to be wife and I were living at her perents house for about 3 weeks before we were going to get married and move into our own appartment well, her perents decided that they wanted her to work at the family buisiness and she had already got a job somewhere else and they got mad and told her that I was cheating on her and saying other bad things about me to her. They hated me because they think I told her not to work at the family buisiness so they wanted to break us up so they could have it thier way. No I didn’t tell her not to work there I told her she could do what she wants to do and I will support her. Well, when she didn’t belive them they were pissed and kicked us out of they’er house and we went and stayed at my brothers house and we were going to get our stuff the week befor our wedding. We showed up and all of our stuff was in the yard tv’s to my furniture and they left all of it outside in the rain for two days. Well we got marred and we could’nt enjoy anything together wedding or honeymoon they didn’t show up for anything. Well my wife now was taking a lot of her anger out on me and we got into fights and I had left a few times because she was so angery. well this went on for about a year and a half. Finally she calls her mom after one of our fights and ever since then her family has been back in our lives but they never apoligized to me for what they had done. They think they are to good for me and they say things about me and turn my wife against me all the time. Now we have a baby and I have drawn the line finally I am no longer keeping my mouth shut to my feelings and we are getting in more fights than ever before. I can’t even hold my son because its like my wife don’t trust me. She won’t even leave him with me in the same room and her mother is watching him for a while until we get him in daycare and I came home and asked if I could hold my son and she would’nt let me and then she went to the bathroom and instead of giving him to me she put him in his playpen. I feel like I am just the sperm donator. I don’t like her perents and she don’t like mine. I I feel like divorce is the only option. I have done so much to help my wife when she was on bedrest and now I feel like I am just the maid that comes to the house after work and clean up after her mom. When we do get into fights my wife threatens to leave with the baby if I don’t see things her way. Sounds like she is just like her mom and dad. We got into a fight this morning because I am Going hunting and she wants me to stay and clean the house. I can’t even enjoy my hobbies anymore because of this relationshp. She said I had an anger problem so I went to anger management classes. She wanted to go see a marrage counsler but she stopped going after the counsler told my wife that she is controling. My brother calls me up and askes me if everything is alright because he is afraid we are fighting and because my wife don’t like me to be around my family. She thinks it is about her family and not both of ours. My mom has only seen the baby twice once in the hospital and the other when my mom showed up unexpeticly. My dad has never seen him. Her mom is taking care of him for now and her mom and dad see him every weekend. I tell her what I feel and we get into big fights then she promeses to change and a week later we are back at square one. So, now I am thinking of a divorce and I am trying to weigh my options but its hard cause I haven’t had options before. So, what should I do?
Open Question: What kind of hunter does this?
You see, I went fishing yesterday (I’m from Alabama, and we don’t have closed fresh water fishing seasons) and my brother-in-law and I found a dead deer. It really bothered me because, this deer was killed (it’s bow and spear season for deer) and the antlers were cut off, and the rest of the animal was discarded. I know that many people around here such as myself, eat venison and truely enjoy the bounty of our hunts. It just seems to me that if your going to hunt, you should clean and eat what you kill, or if you don’t want to do that, then take it to a processor and give it to them so that it can be donated to the hunters helping the hungary program. You see during these economic hard times many people really can’t afford to go out and buy groceries, but they make too much to qualify for assistance programs such as food stamps or so. I really like the way this program works. Those who choose to go out and hunt, can give their deer to feed the less fortunate.
Personally, I eat everything I kill which may limit me to what I actually hunt. Plus, I like to do a little home tanning and using the hides for different things. While I like having antlers in the home, I really use the skin much more. I have some drums that I made from deer hide, although, it really takes someone who has a real feel for such things to come out very good. I have made some leg coverings too, but that only worked for about 20 minutes before they started sliding down uncontrollably. I did do a good job making a lamp shade, and my sister uses that to this day. Of course I have a full tanned hide on my wall, but there are so many things that these hides can be used for.
I was just wondering why someone would just cut some antlers off of a deer and leave the carcass to rot. It is down right disturbing and gives real hunters a bad name. I have no doubt that whoever did this was poaching. Man, that really pushes my buttons. Anyways, I’m going to end here before my blood starts boiling again.
